Mass Effect Multiplayer?

by on June 1, 2010

EA’s Jeff Goldstein has recently posted a job advert (now removed) for a Mass Effect multiplayer programmer, which leads us to believe that multiplayer could be coming to Mass Effect in the future. Whether this will be a spin-off of the series or included in the final part in the trilogy is not known, but the job overview states the following:

“Multiplayer programmers ensure the game engines and game systems work reliably and efficiently in a multiplayer environment. They work with both the front and back ends to take existing single player user experiences and make them multiplayer safe.”

This kind of hints that multiplayer will be finding its way into Mass Effect 3, but is this a wise move by BioWare Montreal? With multiplayer hampering the likes of Bioshock 2 (another title known for it’s polished single player experience) maybe it’s best for the guys over at BioWare to focus on what makes Mass Effect great, the single player.
