Sequel to Rayman Origins Rumoured to be In the Works?
Rumours are abound that a sequel to Ubisoft sleeper hit Rayman Origins is in the planning stages. Apparently a marketing firm has been circulating some market research surveys that include a series of mocked-up Rayman screenshots, suggesting possible settings and themes for a proposed sequel.
Regular Ubisoft research company Arkenford included a brief video and images from apossible sequel, and such features as “legendary worlds filled with castles, vampires, ghosts, Greek gods or dragons” are suggested as possible gameplay elements. They also state that it will feature the same graphics and drop in/out multiplayer that was in the last game. The original game was well-received by critics, and although it has made a profit for the company, it never reached the widespread target market that Ubisoft would have liked.
The entire team at GodisaGeek.com were huge fans, and the game has been ported over to many different consoles, so that it can be played by as wide an audience as it can. A 3DS version is also in the works for release soon, so it is clear that Ubisoft are still very much behind the title. But will we really see a sequel? Only time will tell.
Rayman Origins is available now on PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Wii. A version is currently in the work for Nintendo 3DS, with an expected release date of June 8th 2012. See the full GodisaGeek review here.
