Martyn Gibbs is New GAME CEO

Martyn Gibbs is the new CEO at GAME, he returns to the firm less than a year after leaving them.

Gibbs was the Managing Director at Gamestation in 2007 when GAME purchased the retailer, he has also worked at HMV and WH Smith heading their game departments. His appointment follows the acquisition of GAME by OpCapita yesterday.

In a short statement Gibbs had this to say:
“I am delighted to be leading GAME back to success. Our immediate priority is to help the GAME and Gamestation teams, so they can give our customers a great Easter in our stores and websites.”

GAME have also put a new Executive Chairman in place, David Hamid former joint COO of Dixons will take up the position immediately.

Hopefully Gibbs and Hamid can provide the foundations for GAME’s revival. Whether GAME will be able to compete with online and supermarket prices is yet to be seen, but the next few months are crucial as they look to win back customers trust.
