DICE Details Battlelog, Battlefield 3’s Social Network
Having a social network tied in to a triple-A franchise is all the rage, don’t you know. When Battlefield 3 arrives, it will be no exception to this current craze, and DICE producer Fredrik Loving has been speaking about Battlelog over on the Battlefield Blog, which is completely free and will launch with battlefield 3 in October this year.
“We want to make Battlefield 3 a more social gaming experience and it all starts with Battlelog,” said Loving, “We are changing how you communicate, play, compete and share content with their friends, extending the in-game experience to be accessible from your home computer, on your handheld devices while commuting, or wherever you may be.”
The hub for Battlelog will be the Battlefeed, where players will be able to see all of their friends information in real time, including what match types are being played, and which achievements have been unlocked.
Also included will be complete stat tracking for all Battlefield players, so players can compare and share statistics for “every shot fired” in their Battlefield Careers.

Looks a lot like Facebook, but has a simple and clean UI from what we can see. This kind of social network will make things like forming clans a lot more easier, and will surely stir competition among the hardcore Battlefield players. There’ll be plenty more information regarding the Battlelog in the next few months, and hopefully EA will release a beta for the service to accompany the multiplayer beta for Battlefield 3, which is set to start in September. Those of you who purchased the Limited Edition copy of Medal of Honor should check your email, as we recently received confirmation of our place in the beta.

Battlefield 3 is set to release October 25 for Xbox360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
