EA Confirm Martin Tyler’s New Partner In The Broadcast Booth For FIFA 12
Following on from the highly-publicised scandal in January this year, which saw Andy Gray and Richard Keys fired from Sky Sports, Electronic Arts also took the decision to drop Mr Gray from his commentary duties on the latest FIFA game. Voted Best Sports Game by the E3 Game Critics, FIFA 12 promises a whole raft of improvements, but the major news today is that long-running FIFA commentator Martin Tyler will now be joined by Ex-Arsenal and England International striker and television pundit, Alan Smith. But also, in a first for the seires – in an attempt to re-create the multi-format style of television broadcasting – there will be a second commentary team covering commentary for tournament matches, featuring Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend.
David Rutter, Senior Producer of FIFA 12 said that; “Alan will bring a fresh, new perspective and insight to FIFA 12, working alongside the trusted and well-known voice of Martin Tyler… As one of the top-tier broadcasters on the UK football scene, he brings enormous knowledge and expert analysis to the game so that we can deliver the most authentic FIFA experience this year.”
Alan Smith adds added; “The natural chemistry that Martin and I have developed working live matches for TV has transferred very well to the virtual broadcast booth… I’m really looking forward to FIFA fans hearing our work this fall as we bring all the match day emotion and excitement to this year’s game.”
The game will also feature a host of different commentators from around the world for the various different languages that the game supports, so there are now more lines of recorded dialogue in FIFA 12 than in any previous FIFA title.
