Nintendo 3DS Surpasses One Million Sales
Nintendo’s 3DS console has finally broken the one million sales barrier, according to Japanese publisher Enterbrain’s sales May sales report.
It has taken the first 3D-enabled gaming device on the market a lengthy 13 weeks to reach the milestone. In comparison, Nintendo’s DS console reached one million sales in just four weeks. It took Microsoft’s Kinect a mere ten days to pass the same sales milestone.
While sales were initially good for the 3DS, Sony’s PSP soon regained top spot at the top of the Japanese hardware charts, and has remained there for the majority of time since.
There are several factors, including a weak launch line-up, which have hampered the early success of the console, but with titles such as Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which received a well deserved ten out of ten in our review, and the plethora of titles announced at E3 recently, sales are sure to begin to pick up for Nintendo.
