Arcade-Style Beat-Em-Up Lucha Fury: Screenshots And Details

by on February 24, 2011

Lucha Fury is a forthcoming Beat-em-up, developed by Punchers Impact. The title is a Final Fight-style horizontally-scrolling fighting game which attempts to combine comic style art and action with the world of Mexican Wrestling (Lucha Libre). The game focuses on four playable characters who are young rookies in the wrestling world, but when their favourite energy drink which they all rely on suffers a shortage, they decide to investigate the culprit behind the dilemma they are in – which leads them to uncover a worldwide conspiracy of epic proportions.

The game features four-player drop-in / drop-out co-op, which is playable both locally and over the internet. Multiplayer allows for the wrestlers to combine their four varying wrestling styles – each with their own moveset – to pull off multiplayer combos and special double-team finishers. Moves range from basic punches and kicks to authentic wrestling moves and holds. Players will also be able to make use of the environment to humiliate their enemies further – anything you find on the streets can be thrown or smashed at the enemy and the high-flying minded gamer can perform aerial manoeuvres from any elevated platforms

The stages in the game span the world as the team try to get back their favourite beverage. From Mexico to the United States of America and Asia, the furious fighting spills out across more than 15 levels, featuring crazy, over-sized boss battles along the way. Everyone in the Lucha world wears masks however, in the traditional style of Mexican wrestling, where the mask carries great significance. The game is also family friendly as the cartoon-style world involves no blood and only comic-book violence, in and over-the-top Looney Tunes fashion.

Check out two of the four playable characters; Fatal Blaze and Princess Acky in the artwork and screenshots at the end of the article, and read their bio info below:

Fatal Blaze – he’s the smart ass, cheery chappy who’s a good all rounder and a great character to choose when getting to grips with the game. When not fighting he loves to hit the dance floor.

Princess Acky – she’s the real hidden gem in the game. She has all the enemies falling at her feet and all fighting for her attention. She’s an expert at aerial moves with her long legs being her deadliest weapon.

It seems like a good formula, combining two popular genres: Wrestling and Side-scrolling fighting –  but will it work?
