GAME To Sell Xbox LIVE DLC In Store
In an innovative move, GAME stores in the UK have decided to dedicate a section of their shops to selling scratchcards for individual pieces of downloadable content on Xbox Live Arcade. In a trial period, 40 GAME stores will be selling the cards which will carry unique codes for 30 specific games and game add-ons. The attraction of this scheme is bound to be the fact that gamers will be able to trade-in their old games against DLC, whilst still earning extra loyalty points for the shop at the same time.

So, a strange mixture of both old and new Arcade titles and again – both old and new product add-ons. Do you think this will take off? Being able to trade-in old games against DLC is certainly a novel idea, but a lot of its success will no doubt depend on what is made available in-store, and how quickly content is available after its LIVE launch. Players won’t want to wait for the latest titles to come to the shop, if they can just download them at home on launch day. Perhaps GAME will be able to have cards available at the same time as the LIVE Arcade launch. We shall have to wait and see.
The scheme was started yesterday at 40 GAME stores throughout the UK. Will you make use of the scheme? Let us know your thought in our forums.
