Nintendo Tease New Kirby Adventure For Wii
Floating back into our hearts – Kirby is set to make a swift return to the Wii. Plans were revealed at an Investors meeting in Japan, where Nintendo made a surprising – and blurry – announcement. Coming up hot on the heels of his Epic Yarn, which was only released in Japan and the united States in October (although it won’t reach the United Kingdom until February), Nintendo posted a video for another forthcoming Kirby title which is planned for a 2011 release date on Nintendo Wii.
The game will be developed by HAL Laboratories – the people responsible for the hit Super Smash Bros. series. Harking back to his roots, the game appears to be a traditional 2D side-scrolling platformer – but with characters rendered in 3D. As can be seen in the video, Kirby still possesses his time-honoured sucking ability, but also looks to have acquired a rather impressive-looking sword and summon attacks – such as the Fire Dragon shown. It is rumoured this Wii release will be a version of the previously cancelled Nintendo Gamecube Kirby Adventure – but that has not been substantiated.
Apologies for the fuzziness of the video – Nintendo originally posted it at half this size, so its quality has inevitably suffered somewhat.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn has been out in Japan and America since October and is due to hit UK shores on February 25th – check out the trailer at Godisageek here. The new, as yet un-named title, is expected sometime in 2011.
