Street Fighter 5 March update detailed

by on March 10, 2016

Over on Capcom’s blog, it’s detailed what we’ll be getting this month in Street Fighter 5, as well as some info on the first downloadable character, Alex.

I won’t go into details on Alex’s moveset and v-triggers/skills, or critical art, because although it’s nice to get a new character, the updates coming to the actual core game are more exciting. So the second biggest thing is that the in-game shop will finally be open, so you can spend your fight money. The main update, though, is that Challenge Mode is coming, which is something the game desperately needs, because as it stands, it’s impenetrable to all but the hardcore fans. That list of stuff you can do in this mode is:

  • Beginner Tutorials: 12 lessons covering, movement, normal attacks, special attacks, V-System, throws, counter hits, chip/recoverable damage, etc.
  • Intermediate Tutorials: 11 lessons covering projectiles, invincibility frames, armor and armor break, recovery, cross-up attacks, anti-air options, etc.
  • Advanced Tutorials: 4 lessons covering back dashing, frame advantage/disadvantage, combo potential, button priority, etc.
  • Character Tutorials: 16 lessons covering each individual character.

These will literally teach you how to play the game properly, learning combos, etc.

Battle Lounge will also be updated to allow for eight players, instead of the current two – so, you know, it’s actually a lobby and not just a versus match. Oh and there’s lots of balance updates, which you’d expect.

The upsetting thing here, though, is that all this sounds good but we don’t have a date for the update yet.

But at least it’s gonna be March, so at worst we’ll have to wait 21 days, I guess.
