The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s First Expansion, ‘Hearts of Stone’, Has a Release Date

by on September 8, 2015

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the year’s most highly acclaimed games, and if you’re looking for an excuse to jump back into the beautiful yet dangerous world of Witchers, sorceresses and monsters, then look no further.

The first of two massive story expansions, “Hearts of Stone”, now has a release date and will launch on October 13th, 2015.

This time Geralt of Rivia is hired by the merchant of mirrors, you’ll recognise him as he’s the man who first gives you information on Yennifer in the tavern in White Orchid. He’s hired you to take out a ruthless bandit captain, Olgried von Everec, an immortal man.

The expansion adds over ten hours of new gameplay that includes hiring a crew of break-in artists, partying with ghost and having to outsmart a very peculiar creature. The story line is, once again, dictated by player choice.

There’s also new monsters, new characters, new romance options (further confirming book character Shani’s return) and a brand new mechanic, ‘runewords’, which dramatically changes gameplay.

Going of the trailer below, it would also appear that the Zerrikanians will play apart in this expansion, noticeable by their unusual attire and curved sabres.

As well as being able to digitally download ‘Hearts of Stone’, a limited box edition of the expansion will also be available to purchase. That will include a download code for the DLC and also two physical decks of Gwent cards in the Monsters and Scoia’tael factions. This way you’ll be able to play Gwent for real!
