Peter Dinklage prepares to put another stellar voice performance in. No, we’re not kidding.
It’s the video game movie adaptation that no one really thought would see the light of day, but here we are. You can’t escape it. Sony Pictures really are making an Angry Birds movie, and today the cast has been revealed. And you know what? It doesn’t look half bad.
Jason Sudeikis is to take the lead as Red, a bird with a red hot temper. Josh Gadd will voice the yellow one, “Speedy”. Gadd will be putting in his first vocal performance since voicing Olaf in Disney’s runaway hit Frozen. Danny McBride will voice the black one, “Bomb”, while Peter Dinklage, hot on the heels of his legendary turn in Destiny, will voice “The legendary Eagle”.
John Cohen, producer of the film said, “I’m extremely proud of this cast. Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya, and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they’re surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent – these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we’re thrilled to have them all on board.”
The lads listed above will be joined by Maya Rudolph in the role of “Matilda”, as well as various other names from US TV I never got round to watching. Set to debut in the US on July 1, 2016, Angry Birds is directed by Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis.
Excited for the Angry Birds movie? Good for you. Really. I mean, that’s just great.
