Sense Can Monitor And Improve Your Sleep, But Only If It Gets Funded

by on July 23, 2014

I love technology. I’m sat here in my room and I can see 7 games consoles, a TV, 3 HiFi/Radio things, 12 Computers (don’t ask), 2 tablets, a phone and a slew of other gadgets. All these gadgets resulted in me having to sleep in the spare room for the last 3 years because of all the stupid LED lights and other random noises they make in the middle of the night. The spare room is completely technology free (apart form a digital clock), but I can see Sense becoming the first piece of technology allowed in there.

Currently seeking $100,000 in funding on KickStarter, Sense is a “System that tracks your sleep behaviour, monitors the environment of your bedroom and reinvents the alarm.” Sense can apparently tack multiple factors in your bedroom to determine how good your night’s sleep was (it even gives you a score out of a hundred based on how well you slept). It will also give you suggestions on how to improve your night’s sleep whether that be lowering the room temperature or removing some light.

But that’s not all Sense does, the feature that is most interesting to me is the smart alarm feature. You can set the alarm for any time, but if sense feels that you are starting to stir and are ready to wake up before that time, the alarm will go off to bring your sleep to a natural end.

If Sense is successfully funded (at the time of writing its about half way there) the device will ship in November this year to any backers who pledge more than $99. If you are not a backer you will be able to pick one up for $129.

Update: Mere hours after going live, it seems the funding target will be met!

For more information on the Sense system you should head over to its KickStarter page.
