Developed by The Chinese Room and SCE Santa Monica Studio, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is a first-person adventure game, being published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is inspired by the fiction of John Wyndham, J. G. Ballard, John Christopher and others who deal with ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances.
Set in June 1984, the game focuses on how people live with each other, and deals with the end of the world, but with a twist – Director, Jessica Curry says:
“Whilst we normally play as the hero, in reality, most of us would be the piles of ash and bone littering the game world. That’s an interesting place to start telling a story.”
The game’s predecessor; Dear Esther stunned many players that got to experience it, and Rapture looks set to do the same, this time by allowing more interaction and players even having a direct influence on the events that happen. With it being developed for the PlayStation 4, there is no question that the open-world explorer will look absolutely stunning, in every sense. for now, you can enjoy the beautiful trailer for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, down below.
