Multiplayer mech shooter Hawken received a huge update yesterday, titled Hawken: Ascension. The patch, the biggest the game has gotten to date, features a vast array of changes and improvements and introduces new game modes, tutorials, improved matchmaking and interestingly, Oculus Rift alpha level support.
The update also brings about significant changes to the way players level-up, gain XP and unlock upgrade for both pilots and mechs. This ‘Player Progression’ update offers more control, customizations and better rewards, including free mechs. Party and Clan support has been added, a revamped item system and even a brand new map, Last Eco.

UPDATE
It seems this big update for Hawken has run into some trouble. Last minute issues have come to light forcing the developer to move the launch date to Tuesday, September 10. This will allow Adhesive Games to tackle these last few bugs before the patch goes live, but they need your help.
In order to fully test the patch and ensure any and all bugs are taken care of, Adhesive are offering any player who has a registered account before August 20th, 2013 access to Hawken Ascension build to test the update. And to show their appreciation, players who participate will recieve a 7-Day XP boost that can be used at anytime.
Eligible players will be contacted this weekend via email.
