Xbox One Delayed Until 2014 In Parts Of Europe

by on August 14, 2013

Microsoft’s Xbox One console won’t be released until 2014 in some parts of Europe.

In a statement on their website Microsoft say they are still “committed”  to releasing the console in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland “as soon as possible” in 2014.

As expected Japan will also be missing out on the console later this year.

Pitching it as an announcement of their launch plans, Microsoft admitted to having to revise the number of countries the console would launch in this November from 21 to 13.

There was no mention of a specific launch date (that is expected at GamesCom this month) but they did list the countries that would be able to buy an Xbox One this November. They are – Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand.

Earlier today it was rumoured that Sony’s PlayStation 4 might be released on October 21.

Blaming the localisation of Xbox One’s dashboard and the incorporation of additional languages and dialects into the console’s Kinect-based infrastructure Microsoft said: “We understand this will be disappointing news for our fans in the impacted countries, and we are doing everything we can to bring Xbox One to you as soon as possible next year.”
