Australians hoping to brighten up their summer of sporting failure with some video game insanity will be disappointed now that the latest Saints Row has been denied release down under.
Saints Row IV was banned in the country earlier this year for including an alien anal probe, which developer Volition had since removed, however that wasn’t enough to get a passing grade this time around.
The ACB ruled: “In the Review Board’s opinion, Saints Row 4 could not be accommodated within the R 18+ classification as drug use related to incentives and rewards is not permitted.”
The game reportedly contains “alien narcotics” that grant players “superpowers”, which the three-man board deemed made the game too inappropriate for release.
Eurogamer report that a “safe” version of the game is being worked on, which we hope will see Volition royally take the piss out the ruling.
A Saints Row with guns replaced with water pistols and hugs instead of unarmed combat? Make this happen.
