Assassin’s Creed IV’s director Ashraf Ismail has said that he and his team have been working hard to refine stealth in the action series.
After last year’s Assassin’s Creed III Ismail says Ubisoft received “a lot of feedback”, adding:
“People loved the naval [combat], people really enjoyed the fight, but we knew that the stealth element was something that we needed to push. We’ve put effort into the system to make stealth really viable gameplay.”
He added that in AC4 it would be possible to play the game “completely in stealth” if you wish.
Going further into how the stealth mechanic has been improved Ismail continued:
“AC4 really simplifies how you get detected, how you escape detection, how you sneak up on a guard. All this stuff has been really simplified and made much more intuitive. The feedback itself has also been improved, so now we really focus on what the player needs to know. And that’s the feedback we get.”
To many Assassin’s Creed 3 represented the series’ first major misstep, but this year’s game has so far impressed everyone. I mean, it has pirates in it for heaven’s sake!
