After an absence from home consoles of around eight years – it was 2005 when Kingdom Hearts 2 was released on PlayStation 2 – Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix will be coming to PlayStation 3 exclusively, in September this year. This also follows news that Kingdom Hearts 3 is in production for the next-generation on consoles.
The HD Remix will be the ideal way for players who are new to the series to learn what it is all about – with the new title including:
- KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories
- KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days (HD cinematics)
All of these will be in high definition for the first time, and it will be the first time that Re-Chain of Memories – the PlayStation 2 adaptation of the GameBoy Advance title – will be release outside of Japan. Fans who preorder Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX will receive a Limited Edition exclusive artbook – which will give a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of bringing together Sora, Riku, and the immersive Disney worlds.
Without long left until the title hits retail, fans will finally get their next Kingdom Hearts fix. The series sounds like something that shouldn’t work, but Square Enix have managed to deftly blend the Final Fantasy and Disney universes together, creating an epic adventure that is a joy to behold. Getting the chance to re-live the first game in HD and catch up with the portable versions of the game will definitely whet the appetite for the third proper installment in the series.
