In an interview with Gametrailers’ Geoff Keighley that needs to be seen to be believed, Don Mattrick has told gamers without access to an internet connection to stick with the Xbox 360.
It may well be sound advice considering the Xbox One’s requirement to be connected to the web once every 24 hours in order to play games, but it comes across as yet more arrogance on the part of Microsoft, and a dismissal of the wider global gaming audience.
“We have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity,” said Mattrick. “It’s called Xbox 360.”
“If you have zero access to the internet, that is an offline device.”
Mattrick also had the gall to say that the Xbox One was a console “by gamers, for gamers”.
With a straight face no less. He said it with a straight face.
