Aren’t games great? Sometimes, simple things can bring a smile to even the jaded, cynical ones. This is one of those occasions.
1999 Mode is an homage in many ways to BioShock creator Ken Levine’s classic System Shock 2. For gamers that are looking to be challenged at an extreme level, 1999 Mode is your paradise. However, the mode is only available to players who have completed the game on any other difficulty, at least once.
That was until it was figured out that this extra hard mode could be unlocked using the old-school cheat code to end all cheat codes – the Konami code…well, a variation an said code, really.
Via Joystiq, you can see all of the button presses and clicks required to begin your BioShock Infinite journey to become the ultimate badass that can finish the game on the most difficult of modes:
- On PC (with keyboardmouse): Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, (Cancel key), (Confirm key)
- On Xbox: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A
- On PS3: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, O, X
The game comes out today and by all accounts, is one that will live long in the memory. You can check out our own Adam Cook’s thoughts on the game in our review. He liked it.
BioShock Infinite is available now for Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
