Director Duncan Jones Now Attached to the World of Warcraft Movie

The WoW movie has been talked about for an awfully long time and now fans of the MMO can get buzzed about its potential as the film now has a director. Duncan Jones, who directed the cult hit Moon and the Jake Gyllenhaal thriller Source Code, is attached to the project – we’ve learned thanks to T3.

Jones, who is a big fan of video games, has his work cut out for him, though. We’re all aware of the troubles video games have had in Hollywood. Whether they’ve been the butt of the joke like Street Fighter, or one of Uwe Boll’s monstrosities, live action representations of our digital compadrés have been pretty, pretty bad. Add to that the fact that the incentive to play WoW is to create your own narrative and adventures, there’s no real story to pull from.

However, Jones is up for the task ahead. After the news broke, he tweeted;

“So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper MOVIE of a video game. Ive always said its possible. Got to DO it now! ;)”

Jones may be the man to actually make an enjoyable movie out of a video game property. Maybe.
