Yep that’s right Creed’ fans, it looks like an Assassins Creed movie will be happening whether you like it or not.
Movies that were once Video Games have been somewhat hit and miss over the years. Well, more miss than hit, it has to be said, but they haven’t been all bad. Hitman was ok, as was Tomb Raider. Let’s not talk Super Mario Brothers…Or DOOM.
According to a source at IGN, British playwright Michael Lesslie will be writing the script for the big screen adaptation. Lesslie has no big screen credits to his name, but has received much praise for some of his short film work, mostly for the BBC. It is also being reported that Inglorious Bastards and Prometheus star Michael Fassbender will star in, and produce, the movie, which is big news in itself, as Mr Fassbender has been hot property of late.
Ubisoft also have a Spliter Cell movie adaptation in the works, with Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Star Trek: Nemesis, Inception) set to play the role of the mighty Sam Fisher. Ubisoft is in control of some of gaming’s most loved franchises, so it’s perhaps understandable that they would want to make a move on the movie scene.
