When thinking of publishers that may pop up during the THQ auction, people will bring up the likes of EA and Activision. The independent developer Double Fine Productions are one of the last names that would come into the discussion, but it appears that the kickstarter of mainstream video games Kickstarters, are interested.
As reported by CVG, Twitter user Distressed Debt Investing tweeted;
“THQ: Both Warner Brothers and Double Fine productions have asked for bankruptcy filings in the THQ case”
A massive company like Warner Bros. is understandable, but Double Fine’s inclusion in the discussion is something really exciting. The developer has teamed up with THQ on previous projects; the underrated Costume Quest and the delightful Stacking.
In all likelihood, Double Fine won’t be entering the auction with Saints Row on their mind, so maybe one of the smaller THQ properties could be snapped up by the company. Intriguing times ahead.
