One of Capcom’s biggest series’ fails to sell and one is now in release purgatory. Not a terrific day for the publisher, it must be said. As reported by Eurogamer, 3DS exclusive Monster Hunter 4 has been delayed until further notice. The game was originally slated for a March 2013 release, but will now be some time after that, in Capcom’s own words – “in order to further raise the quality of this game”.
The publisher was also hoping that Resident Evil 6 would sell by the bucketload, but expectations haven’t been met on that one, either. “Sales… were initially strong but subsequently weakened. As a result, sales for this title are certain to fall short of the plan.”, said a representative of Capcom. Initial projections from the company were of seven million, but now they’re looking at six mill.
“We believe that prospects are good for reaching our goal of six million units. We are confident because of the approaching overseas Christmas and New Year selling season, past sales of titles in this series, and for other reasons.”
Our own Adam Cook loved the game, calling it “the ultimate Resident Evil package”. Have you played the game? Let us know what you think of Resi 6 in the comments, below.
