HTC’s Vive Pro headsets start shipping on April 5, and with premium quality VR comes a premium quality price tag.
A high price should be the least of your expectations considering the new device comes with dual OLED displays, giving users a combined resolution of 2880 x 1600, which is an increase of over 75% on the original HTC Vive. Additionally the Pro set also has built in headphones that have a built in amplifier and it’ll also come with a six month subscription to Viveport. Pre-orders are live now through Vive.com, Scan.co.uk, GAME and Overclockers for £799.
Anybody who feels that price is a bit too far out of their reach will be pleased to hear that the regular Vive set is getting a permanent price reduction to £499, and that will come with a two month Viveport sub. Coincidentally, Viveport subscriptions are going up from £6.99 to £8.99 on March 22, but anyone who signs up before then will get the reduced price for the full year.
