Nintendo have announced that it will hold tournaments, at E3, in two of its upcoming multiplayer centric titles; ARMS and Splatoon 2. Both competitions will also be streamed for viewers at home.
The Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational will take place at 10:30PM UK time on June 13 and will feature four teams from different regions around the world. The four person squads will battle in a round-robin Turf War contest initially, to determine seeding for the subsequent Ranked Battles. The semi-finals will then be a best-of-five battle and the finals best-of-seven, the winner of which will receive an engraved Splatoon 2 trophy.
The tournaments announcers will be Jordan Kent, Ashley Esqueda and Eric Smith who will be discussing the tactics and strategies of each time as the game’s progress. Nintendo will also be releasing videos prior to E3 that outline some of the approaches to competitive Splatoon play.
The ARMS Open Invitational will then occur at 11:30PM on June 15 and will see four expert fighting gamers take on challengers from the crowds at E3. The four amateur competitors will be selected from those who qualify at Nintendo’s booth with the victor of the contest being crowned with the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational belt.
All of the action from both contests will be broadcast in English on Nintendo of Europe’s website and on Twitch.
