Vive Tracker and Vive Deluxe Audio Strap are HTC’s latest VR accessories
HTC have announced two new accessories for their Vive VR headset–a motion tracker which allows almost any object to become a controller, and an headstrap which allows for integrated audio directly through the headset itself.
The Vive Tracker is a device which enables motion tracking with the Vive’s room borders, allowing players to be tracked throughout the VR world. HTC says this device will “open new options for developers to make VR even more immersive with additional tracking capabilities”. During a demo at CES 2017, HTC showed the trackers working on a variety of other accesories such as a rifle for VR shooters, haptic gloves and even peripherals for firefighter training.
The Vive Tracker will launch in Q2 2017. See images below.
Also announced was the Vive Deluxe Audio Strap, a headstrap which attaches to the headset that allows for integrated audio–much like its competitor, the Oculus Rift. The Vive has originally relied on users using their own headphones to recieve audio feedback, but now players can purchase a headstrap which attaches directly onto the headset, allowing for a uniform design experience.
The headstrap will also launch in Q2. Pictures below.
