Legendary Digital Studios and Square Enix have today announced a partnership on a new digital series based on the latter’s episodic adventure title Life is Strange.

The project will be developed and produced by Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment, who have most recently worked on the Sony Pictures film adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog. “Life is Strange is one of those rare properties that combines incredibly developed characters and storylines with deeply engaging gameplay,” said Greg Siegel, Senior Vice President of Development and Production for Legendary Digital Studios. “It lends itself perfectly to live-action imaginings. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Square Enix, DONTDOD Entertainment and dj2 to bring the world of Arcadia Bay to life in an exciting new way.”

Life is Strange follows student Max Caulfield who learns she can reverse time, and uses this power to save her best friend Chloe Price from being shot. The pair begins investigating the disappearance of a close friend, unveiling a darker side to their hometown, Arcadia Bay.

Legendary recently announced the first live-action Pokémon movie based on the character of Detective Pikachu, with their Digital Studios branch have already released two Crackle-exclusive movies set in the Dead Rising universe.
