Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap announced for consoles and PC
Cult classic Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap will be returning to consoles and PC with a brand new remastered edition, DotEmu and Lizardcube announced today.
Both French studios are collaborating on the effort, with creator of the original Wonder Boy series Ryuichi Nishizawa also cooperating with the project. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap follows a lonesome adventurer cursed into a half-human, half-lizard form by the Meka-Dragon. As he searches for a cure, the adventurer comes across a variety of traps and dragons — all of which he must overcome using his shapeshifting ability as he is able to transform into a lizard, mouse, piranha, lion, and a hawk.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap was originally released for the Sega Master System in 1989, and became a cult classic on the platform. The new version will remain true to the original episode while adding graphical improvements, enhanced sound, and brand-new features.
It has not been specified which consoles Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap will be released on, and doesn’t have a release date yet, but we’ll keep you updated. See the trailer above.
