Square Enix is in talks with Microsoft for a possibility of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox One
Speaking to Polygon, Yoshida commented on Microsoft’s cross network play policies. He said that Microsoft approached the FFXIV team about cross platform play but there are some caveats. “When our team reviewed the regulations that are associated with that, we realized that Microsoft may not have the experience or understanding of running an MMORPG as an online game genre just yet. The Final Fantasy 14 team has fed back to Microsoft that there are certain elements of its regulations that we would have to consider waived. We’re waiting on Microsoft’s response for that, but we are having discussions.” He also said that they have committed to supporting the PlayStation 3 version of the game through the 3.x series of patches and if anything chances, they would let players know in advance.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Thanks, Polygon.
