Gal*Gun publisher Alchemist files for bankruptcy

The Japanese publisher of the Gal*Gun has filed for bankruptcy.

Alchemist is reported to have filed at the Sapporo District Court on April 1, according to Japanese gaming website 4Gamer.net. The company was founded in 1991 and entered into software publishing business in 2002, bringing out a variety of games in Japan for Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSP. The publisher is best known for marketing games such as Gal*Gun, Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko within Japan.

Gal*Gun: Double Peace is due for Western release this year, published by PQube.
