Stainless Games, developers of the original Carmageddon, have announced Carmageddon: Max Damage for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One — due for release later this year.
Carmageddon: Max Damage will be set in “a world of over-the-top violence, crazy PowerUps and non-stop laughs” and promises to deliver “more carnage and mayhem than ever before”. In-game, “you play against a bunch of complete crazies in twisted automotive killing machines whose aim is purely to maim you.”
“We’re excited that players on these new platforms will soon be able to enter the warped world of Carmageddon: Max Damage, the carnage-filled antidote to racing games,” said Neil Barnden, Brand Director at Stainless Games.
Carmageddon: Max Damage includes:
- Over 30 customisable vehicles, each with their unique character
- 10 large open environments to explore
- A host of moving targets to hunt down for points
- Career mode with 6 different event types
- Multiplayer with 4 online event types
- Fully featured action replay mode; to relive all the action again from any perspective.
- Over 90 PowerUps, complex car damage and repair system and of course, blood.
There was no release date announcement, only that the game will be releasing sometime this year. The original Carmageddon was censored in the UK following it’s release in 1997, with the pedestrians you’re able to run over being replaced with aliens and the blood of your victims being coloured green. The BBFC eventually certified the uncensored version in 1998.
