UK LoL teams to have a shot at the Challenger Series

The ESL UK Premiership has been one of the biggest League of Legends events in the UK for some time but the stakes just got a lot bigger.

The team that manages to come out on top of the 2016 ESL UK Premiership Spring Season will be granted a spot in the Challenger Series Qualifiers this summer. Success in that qualifier would see them given a spot in the EU Challenger Series, one step below the EU LCS.

James Dean, Managing Director at ESL UK had this to say about the new opportunity for teams taking part in his event.

“This is something the entire UK ESL team has been striving for and we’re extremely proud to have now achieved this with the help from Riot Games. The commitment is essential to continue growth and sustainability of the UK League of Legends esports community, making a passion into a career.”
