The Witness Confirmed to Release in January 2016
Sony today confirmed that The Witness, the sophomore title from Jonathan Blow, will be released on the PlayStation Network on January 26.
Blow, who found success with his indie time-shifting platformer Braid, originally announced the game back in 2009 as a title for PC and iOS. He initially planned to release the title on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but halted development as the consoles lacked the power to sustain the game he wanted to deliver. Blow has described The Witness as “an exploration-puzzle game on an uninhabited island.” The game is being developed and published by Thekla, Inc.
Watch the newly recently released trailer above. The Witness will initially release on PlayStation 4 before coming to other platforms once the timed exclusivity deal expires. The length of the deal remains unknown.
