DOOM’s Blood-Spattered Gameplay Video Premiered, Map Creator Announced
Bethesda have shown off the first gameplay footage of their upcoming reboot of DOOM and of course it was blood-covered and full of demons.
The video was premiered on the main stage at Bethesda’s E3 conference, showing off the protagonist fighting his way through hordes of demons on an overrun base on Mars. The iconic shotgun, which was teased in the short trailer last year, is fully revealed. The gameplay is fast, with the protagonist firing through an array of weapons and performing brutal close takedowns on enemies. Audible cheers were heard from the audience with every bloody dismemberment.
Marty Stratton discussed the game’s multiplayer systems, detailing a variety of game modes such as domination and freeze tag before showing off a multiplayer trailer. Players will be able to play as demons in multiplayer by entering burning pentagrams, as well as playing as a traditional gunner.
Stratton also announced DOOM Snapmap, a built-in map creator with the ability to create an environment and alter its logistics. Maps will be able to be shared with friends or players around the world. A third trailer then following, showing off gameplay from the single player campaign, directly from Hell.
A release window was announced with DOOM coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC in Spring 2016. Take a look at the conference gameplay footage above.
