Valve May Organise Dota Majors Alone

by on May 27, 2015

Valve may be organising each of the four Dota 2 majors themselves and not work with 3rd parties as originally stated.

Last month Valve announced the new majors system, which will see 4 major events, similar to The International take place across the year. The announcement stated that they would be working with third parties for the new events, making many believe that events such as ESL One, The Dota Asia Championships and possibly StarLadder would become majors.

However according to insider information acquired by The Daily Dot, Valve is looking to organise the events themselves, much like the way they operate The International and not work with 3rd parties.

The report states that multiple eSports organisations were informed that Valve will be running the majors and will only be collaborating with third parties for broadcast production. This sounds like companies such as ESL, Starladder and MLG will not be working with Valve but the major casting houses such as BTS and JoinDota probably will be.

Apparently Valve also informed the companies that the majors would take place in November, February and March before The International takes place in August.
