A million dollar prize pool has been committed to the ESL One Dota 2 events over a 12-month period.
The first event to benefit from the improved prize fund is the ESL One Frankfurt event that is taking place in June. The event will feature a new prize pool of $250,000 making it one of the biggest non-TI Dota events.
The rest of the million dollars will be distributed across ESL One events in the 12 months following Frankfurt, which will presumably include another ESL One New York event later in the year and an ESL One Frankfurt event in 2016.
Ulrich Schulze, Managing Director of Pro Gaming at ESL had this to say about the massive prize pool.
“We’re starting with ESL One Frankfurt 2015 in June this year, where the prize money has been raised from $150,000 to $250,000 – and this is just the beginning,”
“ESL One is here to set a new standard for professional Dota 2 events at this level. We’re dedicated to pushing the boundaries, and giving players from around the world more chances to make their careers as professional gamers is a key aspect of that.”
There is still a few tickets for ESL One Frankfurt available that you can grab here, but if CS:GO is more your thing tickets for ESL One Cologne just went on sale as well.
