Finally, a day later than planned the group stage of the Dota Asia Championships is over and we know the teams that are proceeding to the main event.
Earlier in the week we reported that TI4 champions NewBee and MVP Phoenix were out of the competition and today they have been joined by CDEC and TongFu after a tense 12th place tie break series. The series started yesterday, but as all teams won one game and lost one game in the first round a second round needed to be held early this morning. Rave eventually came out on top, after winning both games and securing the 12th place.
LGD (9th), EHOME(10th), HyperGloryTeam(11th) and Rave (12th) all advance into the losers round of the main event while the top 8 advance to the winners bracket. You can see the full main event bracket over on Liquipedia.
The biggest story of the group stage was the dominant performance from Team Secret who won all 15 of their games. Fellow western side EG, who looked equally good towards the start of the event, faltered towards the end resulting in a 3rd place finish. Big God had a great run towards the end of the group stage to secure 2nd place based on head to head results while ViCi took 4th.
The main event kicks off on Thursday and will end next Monday with a best of five grand finals.
As ever VOD’s are on the BTS channel and GosuGamers has detailed roundups of each round.
