Nintendo have announced that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will release in Europe on December 5th 2014, alongside the Wii U Gamecube Controller Adapter.
The first batch of Amiibo figures (designed to work with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U) will launch earlier, on November 28th, and will include nine figures in total including Mario, Pikachu, Marth and the Animal Crossing Villager.
Nintendo also announced today that a further nine Amiibo figures will launch on December 19th, including Little Mac, Captain Falcon, Zelda, Fox, Luigi and Wii Fit Trainer.
You can see all Eighteen Amiibo that will be available in 2014 in the trailer below.
All of this information has been revealed alongside the celebration that Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has sold more than 2.8 million copies. If you’re not one of those 2.8 million, feel free to read my review to find out if Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is right for you.
Considering Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will allow for so many extras, it’s unsurprising that Nintendo have announced two major bundles that will be available to buy on December 5th.
Alongside simply being able to purchase the game at retail or through the eShop, you’ll also be able to buy an Amiibo bundle, which includes a copy of the game plus the Super Mario Amiibo.
The other option is to buy Super Smash Bros. for Wii U alongside the Gamecube controller adapter, which will let you use any Gamecube controllers, old and new (including Wavebirds).
With Amiibo finally available soon, it will be interesting to see how soon the additional game support arrives. I’m still waiting on Mario Kart 8 news, Nintendo…
