Legendary Entertainment and Crackle are teaming up to put together a new 90-minute digital project, based around the Dead Rising series of games – and news has emerged today that the series has now started filming. Dead Rising will be developed by the same production company behind the successful Mortal Kombat: Legacy series.
A Tweet from the official account of the series confirmed that the series has entered active production:
It’s official! Filming of the new Dead Rising Digital Series has started in #Vancouver, BC! Stay tuned for more info!

The project will screen exclusively on Crackle in North America, followed by various video-on-demand and home media releases that are planned – both in the United States and internationally. Dead Rising will be directed by Zach Lipovsky – who was actually discovered by Steven Spielberg on his reality show “On The Lot”.
It will be interesting to see if the three protagonists or any supporting characters from the console Dead rising games will appear in the series, or if it will be a completely original story set in the same universe. There has been no announced release window for Dead Rising yet.
