The Playstation Blog updated today with lots of information about Don’t Starve: Giant Edition, including that it will be released on September 3rd.
Don’t Starve: Giant Edition is an expanded Vita release of the Indie title Don’t Starve.
The Playstation Blog update also had a few extra notes, chiefly that saves will not be shared between PS4 and Vita, but if you already own Don’t Starve on PS4 then you already own it on PS Vita – Don’t Starve is a Cross Buy title.
The key new additions in the Reign of Giants expansion (which is already available on PC and PS4, but comes as standard in the Vita version) are as follows:
- New playable characters: Reign of Giants adds two characters for players to discover and survive with.
- Year-round starvation: Struggle through a full year of seasons as you experience the torrential rain falls of spring and the blistering heat of summer.
- A bigger, badder world: New biomes have been filled to the brim with new creatures and gatherables that will either help you survive – or kill you.
- An extra save slot
- Giants
Mick praised the Playstation 4 version of the game in his review saying, “It’s a wonderfully dark survival-craft game with great scope for emergent, unique experiences, even if it will make you rage occasionally.”
Will it translate faithfully to the Vita? Hopefully! Sometimes these sorts of mean spirited games work better on a platform you can carry around in your pocket, so we’ll see if Don’t Starve makes the jump successfully on September 3rd!
