Although the new was leaked on the EU Konami website a little early, during his livestream yesterday Hideo Kojima revealed that Metal Gear Sold V: The Phantom Pain will be coming to PC via Steam.
In typical Metal Gear Solid style, the new was broken along with the news that Steam users will have access to an exclusive Steam-branded cardboard box, that will possess its own unique features. There were no details of a potential release date for the PC version – but it is expected to follow on at a later date after the console release.
Also revealed by Hideo Kojima yesterday was a 17-minute developer walk-through video. Although this video shows us the same mission that was seen at E3, it shows us a completely different style of play. For instance, this is actually the player re-playing a level they have previously completed – and we get to see how enemies have learned and adapted to deal with the threat this time around.
The fact that guards will start making use of helmets and different weaponry, for instance, in order to counter your style of play is a very interesting one, and a feature that could add some real longevity to the game. Also, you can make your Horse poop on demand – what other games can lay claim to that feature?
If I'm not playing on a good Adventure Game - still longing for the long-past Golden Age of the genre, when Lucasarts and Sierra ruled supreme - you might find me searching for a local arcade, in the hopes that it still houses titles such as Sunset Riders or WindJammers.
