As we reported earlier this week the ESL One Frankfurt Dota 2 tournament concluded over the weekend and IG came out victorious. But today the ESL has revealed attendance and viewing figures for the event and they are almost as impressive as IG’s game three performance against EG!
Over 12,500 people attended the event in person, which lead to a packed stadium. There were also over 500,000 concurrent online viewers across the weekend. These numbers seem to prove that demand for large eSports events is growing which can only be a good thing.
ChauN, one of the players from victors IG, had this to say about the event.
“The fans, the stadium, and the entire atmosphere were overwhelming. It’s an amazing experience to play in such a massive stadium in front of all these people and you could feel the energy from the crowd all throughout the tournament,”
ESL One may be over, but The International 4 is mere days away. You can expect full coverage of the event right here on God is a Geek.
