Players who purchase NES Remix 2, and already own NES Remix, will gain access to an exclusive Championship Mode.
Inspired by the iconic Nintendo World Championship event – which took place in the US in 1990 – the mode tasks players with completing a series of challenges across three games, earning a cumulative total they can upload to Miiverse.
The three games you’ll play in NES Remix 2 are Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and, erm, Dr. Mario.
The original 1990 competition was played on Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer, and Tetris. Only one of those is featured in NES Remix 1 and 2.
It’s a nice little addition for players of both titles, along with the reverse version of Super Mario Bros., titles Super Luigi Bros. All that said, the important thing is that NES Remix 2 features Punch Out!!, Metroid, and Kid Icarus stages, making it the superior NES Remix title by default.
NES Remix 2 will be released on the wii U eShop on April 25th.
