Sony have proudly announced the news today that as of March 2 2014, their new PlayStation 4 console has sold over 6 million units since its launch back in November of last year. This includes the launch sales of 370,000 units in Japan since it was released there just under two weeks ago, on February 22.
It has taken less than four months to reach this large milestone, meaning that around 1.25 millions units on average have sold each month so far. On top of these impressive hardware figures, Sony also revealed that they have sold 13.7 millions units of software, both at retail and through digital distribution.
Many gamers have been complaining since the launch of both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that there aren’t enough games available on the machines – and particularly gaming experiences that are exclusive to this next generation. But with new titles such as the PS4 exclusive Infamous: Second Son and a new entry into the wildly successful Metal Gear Solid series, perhaps things are starting to look up for next-gen early adopters.
