Blizzard’s free-to-play card game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, has moved out of beta and is now official released.
The title is a versus card game and clearly owes a debt to leaders in the genre, such as Magic The Gathering, though the Warcraft art and simple, accessible nature of Hearthstone make it a lovely title to spend some time with.
“We saw some reports early on that Hearthstone might destroy the planet,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re pleased to see that the game has been released and the planet is still here . . . though we apologize for all the lost productivity.”
Our own Martin Baker was fairly fond of the game when he previewed it last year, too.
You can grab Hearthstone by way of a simple trip to the Hearthstone website but be warned. Once you reach the arena, it’s a slippery slope of ‘just one more game’!
