SUDA 51’s most recent Assassin title, Killer is Dead, is heading to PC courtesy of Deep Silver.
Titled the Killer is Dead: Nightmare Edition, the release will land on May 9th with some new content;
- New difficulty mode called Nightmare Mode. In this mode, enemies can only be defeated using the following attacks: Adrenaline Burst, Dodge Burst, Headshots, so the gameplay requires far more skill and tactics. Players will not be able to use the Final Judgement finisher (QTE mode) to defeat enemies.
- Smooth Operator Pack for console will be included and unlocked after Episode 3.
- Theater Mode – Rewatch cutscenes and get extended background information on characters, helping to unravel the story after your 1st playthrough
Now, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Killer is Dead when I reviewed it back on its console release. It was alright, but as an action game it wasn’t up to Metal Gear Rising’s standard, and as a SUDA game it failed to hit the highs of Killer 7 and No More Heroes.
That said the first new tweak, the new difficulty, could go some way to tackling the monotony of conflicts if there’s a touch more thought required. Perhaps I’ll give this another investigation on the ol’ Personal Computer in May…
