Capcom held a huge Monster Hunter event in Japan this weekend, and although it focused on the core Japanese market for the series, Monster Hunter fans worldwide will be over the moon to hear the news that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will finally be getting a Western release – albeit not until early 2015.
Capcom and Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto made a video announcement in which he said that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate would get a release in North America and other markets exclusively on Nintendo 3DS, at the start of next year. Although the game was released in Japan in 2013, this Western release will actually be based on the upgraded re-release Monster Hunter 4G, that will be released in Japan later this year.
Monster Hunter 4 has been a massive hit in Japan so far, and has been attributed to the turnaround in fortunes for the 3DS consoles to some extent. Although there is still quite a long wait for the title to hit Western shelves, at least it will be the new version, complete with extra monsters and all of the other bells and whistles.
