Available right now for Xbox 360, and when the PlayStation Network Store updates later today, you can grab the demo for forthcoming threequel, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
Having played the game, it’s a confusing one. The battle system seems a little light at first, but you’ll be able to play the opening section of the game, described thus:
The demo to the exciting conclusion of the FINAL FANTASY XIII trilogy; puts players in control of Lightning as she traverses the chaos-infested Yusnaan palace of her old ally, Snow. Customise Lightning’s style in both appearance and abilities, with many weapons, outfits and roles based on different jobs from the FINAL FANTASY series. Jump between three different styles in each battle and master the completely overhauled battle system.
One thing worth noting, is that if you are planning on picking up the game on February 14th, grabbing the demo and enabling the “outerworld” service (social networking, essentially) will eventually unlock the Siegfried outfit for the final version of the game. In fairness, the outerworld feature is pretty cool, as you can score-attack bosses and share scores, etc.
